Donation Guidelines

Follow these simple steps to make your blood donation safe, healthy, and life-saving for others.

Before Donation

  • Get enough sleep and eat a healthy meal before donating.
  • Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
  • Avoid alcohol or smoking for at least 24 hours before donation.
  • Carry a valid ID and know your blood group.
  • Ensure you are feeling healthy and free from fever, cold, or infection.

During Donation

  • Relax and stay calm — the process takes only 10–15 minutes.
  • Follow the instructions of medical professionals carefully.
  • Inform the staff if you feel dizzy or unwell.
  • Keep your arm straight and breathe slowly.
  • Smile — you’re saving a life!

After Donation

  • Rest for 10–15 minutes and have juice or snacks.
  • Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day.
  • Avoid heavy exercise for the next 24 hours.
  • Keep the bandage on for at least 3 hours.
  • Feel proud — you’ve given someone a chance to live!
